Thomas Larsen and Maren Pedersdatter – Lars Thomsen’s Parents

Thomas Larsen lived in Jeksen, Adslev, Skanderborg, Denmark, where he was born on November 30, 1821. Maren Pedersdatter was born on December 16, 1830, in Jeksen. Her parents were Ane Johanne Sorensen and Peder Kristensen. Thomas and Maren were married on March 16, 1850, in Jeksen. He owned a farm in Jeksen, a beautiful valley that lies south of Adslev. Maren gave birth to six children. Thomas died on May 27, 1871, in Jeksen at the age of forty-nine. Maren was forty, and their youngest child was three.

Maren’s youngest child was Anton Thomsen who helped Christian Thomsen and his siblings get established in the United States. In 1900, Thomas Marius Thomsen (her grandson and brother of Christian Peter Thomsen) came for a visit from Omaha, Nebraska. In her last years, Maren lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Ane Johanne and Jens Pedersen. She died on May 12, 1909, in Bredstrup, Denmark, at the age of seventy-eight.
